"We believe anyone attending this event will gain enough knowledge to help keep themselves and their families safer. . ."

One of the principal sponsors whose support made this offer possible is Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Kent A. Sepkowitz, MD, Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Quality and Safety at Sloan Kettering, comments: “Enormous reductions in hospital-acquired infection rates have been seen in the US over the last decade due to the hard work of hospital staff, patients, and their families. But the problem continues. Continued collaboration between patients and staff can help drive the numbers down even further.”

According to the CDC, every year at least two million people in the US become infected with antibiotic-resistant bacteria and at least 23,000 people die as a direct result of these infections.

Pulse President Ilene Corina notes, “We believe anyone attending this event will gain enough knowledge to help keep themselves and their families safer, and can share what they’ve learned with others in their communities. Let’s save some lives!”

Speakers at the Symposium are:

Janet Eagan RN
Manager, Infection Control
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Bruce E. Hirsch MD, FACP, AAHIVS
