Wantagh, NY, October 1, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Patient safety advocacy and education group PULSE of NY will introduce Suffolk County to the concept of medical error and how it can be prevented on Thursday October 15th from 6:30-8:30 pm.
This Introduction to Patient Safety will be hosted by Green Earth Natural Foods Market.

The two-hour event will include a one-hour community-based training session to help patients, family and friends understand their role in patient safety, followed by facilitated discussion of the subject.
"Medical errors are now the third leading cause of death in the country," notes PULSE president Ilene Corina. "Since 1996 PULSE has worked closely with patient safety experts to develop programs for the general public on reducing falls in hospitals, reducing hospital acquired infections, avoiding medication errors and providing support in discharge planning while improving health literacy and communication skills. This introduction is designed to help those who wish to advocate for family and friends and will include learning about medication safety, communication with your health care provider, and the role of patient and family in health care settings.
